Course Overview

The GWO Basic Technical Training (BTT) programme at Errigal Training Centre provides the required knowledge and practical capability to perform basic technical tasks safely within wind turbine environments. This course covers the four core GWO technical modules:

  • Mechanical (BTTM)
  • Electrical (BTTE)
  • Hydraulics (BTTH)
  • Bolt Tightening (BTTB)

Participants must bring their own work safety boots.

Course Content

  • Gain an understanding of the main components, mechanical systems, and operational principles of modern wind turbines.
  • Learn about the risks and hazards associated with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems within wind turbine environments.
  • Develop a basic understanding of electrical systems and the function of common sensors used in turbine operations.
  • Identify and understand the key components and operation of hydraulic circuits found in wind turbines.
  • Perform torque and tensioning operations using hydraulic equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry best practices.
  • Build awareness of safe working practices when interacting with wind turbine systems and equipment.
  • Develop the foundational technical knowledge required for wind turbine inspection, maintenance, and servicing activities
