Course Overview

This course enables participants to support and care for others working in the industry by possessing the knowledge, skills, and ability of Enhanced First Aid. Upon completion of the GWO EFA training, participants will be able to administer safe, effective, and immediate lifesaving and enhanced first aid measures to save lives and give assistance in remote areas using advanced emergency equipment and medical teleconsultation.

Course Content

  • Learn advanced first aid principles using the C-A-B-C-D-E approach to assess and manage casualties in emergency situations.
  • Conduct primary and secondary casualty assessments, prioritising life-threatening conditions, catastrophic bleeding, and airway management.
  • Gain practical experience using advanced emergency equipment, including Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), oxygen therapy systems, and airway management devices.
  • Develop the skills to effectively communicate casualty information and symptoms to remote medical professionals through medical teleconsultation.
  • Understand how to recognise and manage a range of traumatic injuries and medical emergencies, including fractures, burns, shock, and approved pain management techniques.
  • Participate in realistic, team-based rescue and emergency response scenarios within wind turbine environments.
  • Build the confidence and competence required to provide an effective initial medical response while awaiting professional medical assistance.

Prerequisites

To attend the GWO Enhanced First Aid course participants must:
